Former PSG official AlexanderMarles has predicted that star player Neymar will be fit to start the Champions League clash with defending champions Bayern Munich next week. Bayern Munich host Brazil player Neymar and his PSG team at the Allianz Arena next week Wednesday in what’s the first leg of their quarterfinal tie.
Marles told Le Parisien that PSG officials won’t include Neymar in the team for the Lyon game before the international break if he had not recovered fully from the adductor injurythat has plagued him in recent weeks. Neymar played the final 20 minutes of the Lyon game, which ended in a 4-2 away win for the French champions. The big victory over Lyon took PSG to the summit in Ligue 1.
Brazil national team player Neymar has been limited to just five games as a result of the previously mentioned adductor injury andthe lack of games during the international break could impact on his form negatively.
South American teams like Brazil, Argentina and others had their World Cup 2022 qualifiers slated for March postponed. To this effect, Neymar had a free international break and he was unable to build his fitness with quality games ahead of the Bayern double header next month.
The Champions League quarterfinal tie between Bayern Munich and PSG is a repeat of the final last season. Kingsley Coman was the hero for Bayern after the Frenchman scorer the only goal in a 1-0 win for Bayern at the Stadium of light in Lisbon in August.
Bayern play hosts to PSG in the first leg on Wednesday night before the return leg at the Parc des Princes in France on August 13.
