Brazil national team player Neymar was largely anonymous especially in the second half as French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) lost to Premier League table toppers Manchester City in the Champions League.
The French champions wasted a fantastic opportunity in the first leg at the Parc des Princes last week Wednesday. Brazil player Marquinhos gave PSG the lead in the first half before Manchester City came back to win the game 2-1 with two second half goals.
Kevin De Bruyne and RiyadMahrez scored the two goals for Manchester City in the space of seven minutes to take the lead ahead of the second leg played at the Etihad Stadium last night.
Brazil national team talisman Neymar and French World Cup winner KylianMbappe are the two big stars in the PSG team and they were unable to prevent the French Ligue 1 club from falling to defeat at the hands of the Citizens.
Mbappe was named on the bench for the second leg due to a calf problem and he didn’t feature at all for PSG throughout the game to suggest that he was not fit at all.
With the 2-1 result from the first leg, PSG needed to score at least two goals to go through to the Champions League final ahead of Manchester City. In the end, Neymar and PSG could not even muster a shot on target for the whole duration of the game not to talk of finding the back of the net.
Mahrez scored twice to hand Manchester City a 2-0 victory at home to the French giants thereby securing a final berth with a 4-1 aggregate win. The Citizens will now face the winner of the other last four tie between Chelsea and Real Madrid.
The semi-final tie between Real Madrid and Chelsea is delicately poised after the first leg in Madrid ended in a 1-1 draw. The second leg is at Stamford Bridge, London on Wednesday night.
